Tournament Rules

The WACT4BBB Tournament is built around a series of handicapped team events under the normal rules of golf. For your team to be flown from Melbourne to Tasmania and represent your club and state in the Finals Tournament, expense free:

1.      Form a team of four amateur golfers

2.      Sign up and pay a small entrance fee to participate ($30 per player per qualifying trial, GST incl.)

3.      Participate in at least one qualifying trial of two rounds at your designated local club

4.      During each qualifying trial period, your golf club offers three monthly medal rounds. These form the basis of the tournament. After signing up, your team decides which two monthly medal rounds you'll play as WACT4BBB Champions Tournament qualifying rounds. If your local club does not hold monthly medal rounds, your team is ineligible for our tournament.

5.      The first round in each qualifying trial is the qualifying round, in which one of your team members must qualify as captain by finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in either A, B, or C grade in your club’s monthly medal round.

6.      The second round in each qualifying trial is the Captain + Team qualifying round. The score from this is added to your previous round's score to decide whether or not your team qualifies for a Golden Ticket - your entry into the Final Championship.

7.      Even if you don’t qualify during the trials, complete both rounds and enter both cards, and you'll have a chance to win a lucky draw Golden Ticket for your team. Each team must complete a chosen three-month qualifying trial before starting a new one. Teams can enter one or as many qualifying trials as they wish, with each qualifying trial having a $30 (GST incl) entry fee per team member.

8.     Be one of the best 20 teams across Australia, based on total scores during the qualifying trials. OR Win one of two randomly drawn Golden Tickets.

9.     Scorecard compliance:

  • club scorecard must be used by each member of the team so that a snapshot of each monthly medal/WACT4BBB qualifying round score can be kept by the team leader for record-keeping purposes.
  • For Golden Ticket presentations, the team leader will be asked to provide saved scorecard snapshots from each member of their team from their monthly medal rounds/WACT4BBB qualifying rounds, with clear evidence of non-team member co-signatures on each scorecard.
  • All teams are required to enter their scores online via the WACT4BBB scorecard system. However, only teams in contention for a Golden Ticket need to submit a snapshot of their scorecards when requested by WACT4BBB.

It’s that easy! Of course, there are some technical details:

  • All members of the team must hold current golf link cards and belong to the same golf course that the team is signed up for.
  • No team can have more than two A-grade or two C-grade players. For example, player grades for the four team members could be AABB, AACC, ABBB, BBBB, ABCC but not AAAB or ACCC.
  • Three qualifying trials will be held across 32 weeks during 2025, with each trial comprising two rounds. Teams must enter at least one qualifying trial but  may enter up to three qualifying trials. As the qualifying trial period is 3 months, three monthly medal rounds occur during the qualifying trial period. The team must nominate two of these as their WACT4BBB qualifying rounds for each qualifying trial.
  • During the qualifying rounds, no team member can mark a fellow team member's card.
  • Scorecards for the qualifying rounds must be certified by the local club's Professional prior to submission using the WACT4BBB template.

And some even finer details!

WACT4BBB will not be held liable for a local club or its Professional failing to enable player participation in the World Amateur 4BBB Champions Tournament through either action or inaction.

1.4 It is the responsibility of team members to ensure that scores are correctly entered onto the WACT4BBB scorecard and submitted by the end of each qualifying round. World Amateur 4BBB Champions Tournament organisers will not be held responsible for late or incorrect submissions, including those caused by failure of a telecommunications carrier.
